We will have a separate division for all siblings that want to participate.  If you are a chili expert or know of a good recipe,  we will be having a chili cook-off that same day, so bring you favorite recipe by for judging.  See you Saturday!

January 25th Meeting Canceled

The Pack 20 meeting scheduled for January 25th has been canceled due to weather.  We will resume next week.

Wekiva Falls Campout

We hope everybody is having a great Christmas Holiday.  If you are going to the Wekiva Falls campout, please  remember to reserve a campsite before it gets full. Their website is www.wekivafallsresort.com and phone number is 352-383-8055, when you call mention that you are with Pack 20.

On Saturday the 15th, we will still be meeting at the Central Florida Zoo at 10 am.  Unfortunately, due to scheduling problems and program regulations we will not be attending the Animal Encounter Program or the Forester Activity Badge program.  The scouts will have the option of participating in the Zoom Air Adventure Course (Kids Course) or explore the zoo.  Or you can do both.  More details on either activity can be found at www.centralfloridazoo.org or www.zoomair.us .

Also, our first meeting, a Pack Meeting, will be on January 11.  Remember to be there before 6:30 so we can start promptly and your Cub Scout can participate on the door drawings.

As always contact any of us if you have any questions or comments.

First Campout of 2011

Come one Come all to the first campout of 2011!!!  Let’s ring in the new year with a fun campout.

We will be camping at Wekiva Falls Resort in Sorrento, FL.  The resort is located 6 miles west of I-4 on SR 46.  You can find out more at their website: www.wekivafallsresort.com.

The campout will start January 14th and end on January 16th.  The resort has reserved us 7 premium sites with water and electricity.  The cost for each site is $24 per night and includes 2 people.  Each additional person per site is $5 per night.  Each site can hold two tents; so if you want to split the cost with another family and share a site please do so.  Each site requires a non-refundable deposit of $25 total, which will be applied to your total cost when you check out. Each family will need to call and reserve your site.   Please call 352-383-8055 and mention you are with pack 20.  I have already called and put a reservation down for myself so please call as soon as you can to reserve your spot.  If you want to save $6 per night you can pitch your tent on the primitive sites but they are first come first served.  I have been told the primitive sites are directly across from the premium sites.

On Saturday we will be driving to the Central Florida Zoo (10 miles away) in Sanford, FL to attend a Cub Scout program at 10 AM.  The Tigers, Wolves, and Bears will attend the Animal Adventure Program and get up close and personal with the zoo’s animals.  The Weblo’s will attend the Cub Scout Forester Activity Badge Class which will earn each scout their Forester Activity Badge.  The cost for each scout is $12 and includes zoo admission.  There is a minimum of 8 scouts required for each class.  One adult chaperone is required for each group of five boys.  Each chaperone is admitted free into the zoo.  All other parents will be required to pay regular zoo admission ($12) to attend the class.  Each class is 2 hours long.  After the class you have the option to see the rest of the zoo or return to the resort.  The zoo requires one lump sum payment, so please contact me as soon as possible so that I can put you down (cell – 407-864-1027 or email at kcar...@cfl.rr.com).  I will need payment by the den meeting on January 4th so that I can pay the zoo one week ahead of time.

After visiting the zoo, we will return to the resort for some free time and dinner.

I will have further details to follow as I get them scheduled but wanted to let you all know as soon as possible what we are doing in January.  Please contact me with any questions.

Thanks,

Kevin Carey
